Two men have been arrested at gunpoint following a serious incident in Chippenham.
Armed police were deployed to a flat in Stockwood Road, Southmead, at around 9.30am this morning (Monday) after concerns were raised by a member of the public.
Firearms officers carrying rifles and baton guns pointed their weapons at the building as they ordered the occupants to show themselves. A police dog was also on hand to assist.
Two males – aged 24 and 26 – were detained, searched and handed over to local officers – who held them in police cars until police vans arrived at the scene to cart them off to custody.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that both men were arrested on suspicion of threats to kill, assault, false imprisonment, possession of class A drugs and being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
They remain at Gablecross police station for questioning in connection with the incident.
Officers remained at the address for approximately two hours, carrying out a thorough search.
Lackham Circus and Stockwood Road were blocked by police as firearms officers carried out the arrests but they reopened a short time later, at 10.30am.
