Two air ambulance teams were called after an elderly man suffered stab wounds this morning.
Police officers raced to the scene in Cricklade at around 11am following reports of the incident at Heberden House, a sheltered housing complex for people aged over 55.
Specialist critical care medics from Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Great Western Air Ambulance were sent to the medical emergency, providing life-saving treatment.
It’s reported the casualty, an elderly wheelchair user man, suffered self-inflicted knife wounds.

Five police vehicles, including a dog unit, were in attendance. A sergeant at the scene told Wiltshire 999s that they were assisting the ambulance service and there are not believed to be any criminal circumstances surrounding the incident.
The patient was taken to the Major Trauma Centre at Bristol’s Southmead Hospital by land ambulance, escorted by a critical care medic from Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
