A group of travellers have set up on the Oasis site after ‘crashing on the M4’, it’s claimed.

They were reportedly leaving the Swindon area after a brief stay on Tovey Road fields in Pinehurst, but a road traffic collision in the motorway on Sunday (12 March) prompted their return.

Councillor Sudha Sri said the group set up camp on the Oasis Leisure Centre grounds following the incident in order to undertake caravan repair work.

“Unfortunately the group have attempted to leave Swindon but following an RTC on the M4 on Sunday (information issued by Wiltshire Police) they have returned to Swindon and the site of the Oasis Leisure Centre”, she said.

Adding: “I have informed the management company and will support them as required but am hopeful once caravan repairs have been undertaken the group will leave Swindon Borough.”
