UPDATE: Police launch investigation after discovery of body in Brinkworth

Trains are being delayed or cancelled due to an incident near Royal Wootton Bassett.

Emergency services were called to the railway line between Swindon and Bristol Parkway at around 9.30am this morning (Wednesday).

According to locals, there are approximately ten police vehicles in attendance, an ambulance and at least two fire appliances.

Network Rail incident response vehicles are also at the scene.

In a statement, Great Western Railway said: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Swindon and Bristol Parkway the line is blocked. Disruption is expected until 11:15 17/07.

“Train services between Swindon and Bristol Parkway may be cancelled or diverted.

“We are sorry for the delay to your journey.

“While the Emergency Services respond to an incident we are unable to run trains, in either direction, between Swindon and Bristol Parkway. Where possible we will divert trains by an alternative route, but this may add 30 minutes to your journey.”
