There are train delays after a ‘fatality’ on the railway line near Bradford on Avon.
Sources have confirmed that a person has died following an incident in the Freshford area, sparking a closure of the tracks this morning (Saturday).
Emergency services are currently on scene, with the line between Bath Spa and Westbury expected to remain shut until around 9am.
A spokesperson for GWR said: “Due to the emergency serviced dealing with an incident the lines are currently blocked.
“Freshford, Avoncliffe and Bradford-on-Avon will not be served by trains until further notice.
“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 09:00 09/08.
“Taxis will shuttle from Bath Spa to serve passengers at Freshford, Avoncliffe and Bradford-on-Avon only, they will then proceed to Westbury.
“Taxis will shuttle from Westbury to serve passengers at Bradford-on-Avon, Avoncliffe and Freshford only, they will then proceed to Bath Spa.
“Unfortunately we cannot guarantee taxi arrival times. Where possible, trains will divert. We apologies for the inconvenience.”
