National Highways confirmed that the motorway was full reopened at 2pm.
Traffic has been stopped in both directions on the M4 in Wiltshire.
Emergency services were called to a lorry fire halfway between junctions 15 (Swindon) and 14 (Hungerford) at around 10.15am this morning (Wednesday, 28 September).
Firefighters are currently battling the flames, which have created a plume of smoke across the carriageways – resulting in the M4’s temporary closure.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Please be aware that the M4 is closed in both directions near J15 due to a lorry fire.
“Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes while emergency services attend the ongoing incident.
“We will provide updates once the motorway has reopened.”
