Three people – including a young child – are in hospital after a tree fell on a car in Wiltshire.

Emergency services responded to reports of the serious road traffic collision on the A363 Farleigh Wick, near Bradford on Avon, at around 12.20pm today (18 February).

Firefighters were tasked with extricating multiple occupants from the car, which was crushed by a falling tree.

Wiltshire 999s understands the youngster was trapped in the back of the vehicle during the ordeal.

The driver was taken to the Major Trauma Centre at Bristol’s Southmead Hospital. He is believed to be in a serious condition.

One passenger was also taken to Southmead Hospital, whilst another occupant was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “The road is likely to remain closed for several hours while collision investigators conduct enquiries at the scene.

“Please avoid the area.

“It is not clear whether there were any witnesses to the incident, but if you do have any information, please call 101 and quote log number 268 of February 18.”
