Three people have been arrested following an incident in Swindon on Saturday.

Police officers were called to Eastern Avenue in Old Walcot at around 11.10pm on Saturday, Saturday 7 October, following reports of a fight breaking out.

On their arrival, three people – one woman and two men – fled the scene on foot. One man involved in the incident was heard shouting racist remarks as he ran away.

The responding officers were hot on the heals and two of the three suspects who made off from the scene and they were arrested half a mile away on Lennox Drive.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We received a report shortly after 11pm on Saturday 7 October regarding a disorder in Eastern Avenue involving a number of people.

“When officers arrived at the scene, two men and a woman ran from the scene.

“A 35-year-old man, a 39-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated affray.

“They’ve been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”

Police officers and Police Community Support Officers carried out door-to-door enquiries in the near vicinity this morning, Sunday 8 October.
