Three men have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after police officers spotted a suspicious vehicle in the Chippenham area last night.
Officers witnessed suspicious activity in the Market Place at around 7.30pm yesterday and attempted to stop a blue Audi. The driver failed to stop for police and made off.
A short while later we received a report of a collision on the A4, where a blue Audi had collided with the back of a Ford Ka and left the scene. Officers carried out patrols of the area and located the Audi in the car park of a pub on the A4.
When they approached the vehicle, two men were scene to flee on foot, but a third was located inside the car and arrested. The other two men were located a short time later with help of the police helicopter.
Two men, aged 21 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent. A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.
All three are believed to be from outside Wiltshire and are all currently in custody at Melksham Police Station.
Sgt Jansen Carter, from the Chippenham Area Community Policing Team, said: “We are committed to targeting serious offenders to tackle drugs activity within our communities.
“These arrests are as a result of proactive, policing, and shows our commitment to making our streets safer.”
