Three men were arrested and cash and drugs were seized following a routine traffic stop in Trowbridge on Friday.
A police officer on routine patrols in the town stopped a grey Citroen in St Stephen’s Place at around 10.50pm following concerns about the manner of driving.
During a search of the driver and the car, they found a quantity of suspected cocaine, a mobile phone and £245 in cash.
The driver, a 40-year-old man from Warminster, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession of Class A drugs and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Officers then carried out a search at a property in Cotton House Gardens, in Warminster, and located a number of items connected to the potential supply of drugs. These included suspected Class A and Class B drugs, mobile phones and scales.
Two men present at the address, aged 32 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs. All three men have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Sergeant Charly Chilton, from the Trowbridge Community Policing Team, said: “This highlights the importance of officers being out on proactive patrols in our communities.
“In this case, the officer initially stopped the car due to concerns about driving, but very quickly it turned into an investigation into drug dealing.
“We are committed to tackling the supply of illegal drugs and would continue to urge the public to report any information or suspicious behaviour to us. You can do this by going to our website, or calling 101, or 999 if a crime is in progress.”
