Three males have been arrested after police swarmed two adjoining housing estates.

Dozens of police officers were seen racing to Abbey Meads and Penhill, which are separated by a small amount of green space, at around 5pm this evening.

Wiltshire Police say they were responding to reports of a disorder involving a number of young people.

Wiltshire 999s’ readers have reported seeing a police presence in Woodmans Road and Hilmarton Avenue. Others claim to have seen various police vehicles speeding towards the locations.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called to the Abbey Meads area of Swindon at just before 5pm today (09/03), following reports of a disorder involving several young people.

“A number of youths were seen running towards the Penhill area of town soon afterwards.

“Three men have been arrested on suspicion of affray and have been taken to Gablecross Police Station where they remain in custody.

“Officers are currently in these areas carrying out their enquiries.”
