A team of would-be thieves have returned a TV to the doorstep of a home in Chippenham after discovering it’s broken.
Two women attended an address in School Walk, off Hungerdown Lane, on Saturday (4 April) – seemingly helping themselves to a television left out in the porch.
The device had been put outside by the occupant after it stopped working. But within 30 minutes, the pair arrived and removed it without asking at around 5pm.
By 8.30pm, it had been returned to the porch by the same woman – this time accompanied by a man. It’s believed they released it was broken and took it back.

‘The cheek of some people… I put an old TV outside my door on the porch because it had stopped working and not even half an hour later, a couple of women walked up in broad daylight and took it’, the local resident said.
Adding: ‘A couple of hours later, one of the women came back with a man and returned the TV after they realised it didn’t work.
‘The cheek – if you’re going to nick something, don’t bring it back and complain that it doesn’t work.’
