Two teenagers have been arrested after a stinger was used to stop a motobike they were fleeing on.

At around 1pm on Wednesday (3 November), officers on patrol near junction 16 of the M4 became aware of a motorcycle with a rider and a pillion passenger.

When officers signalled for the bike to stop, the rider failed to do so and a pursuit was authorised.

Wiltshire Police says the suspects then continued away from officers along the A3102 towards Royal Wootton Bassett and on to the B4042.

Officers from the local policing team were assisted by specialist operations officers and a stinger was used to stop the motorbike.

Two men were seen running from the scene but were quickly detained.

Searches were conducted and a small amount of class B drugs, a screwdriver and cash were located.

An 18-year-old man from Bristol was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, dangerous driving, possession of a class B drug, drug driving and going equipped to steal.

An 18-year-old man from south Gloucestershire was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a class B drug.

Both were taken to custody in Gablecross for questioning and have since been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out.

The bike was recovered by officers and enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 and quote crime reference number 54210107226.
