A teenager has died in a suspected suicide after 999 crews were called to a Swindon home.

Emergency services swarmed Towcester Road in Coleview following a serious mental health-related incident at around 4pm today (Saturday).

A large number of police vehicles were at the scene alongside fire engines, ambulances and Wiltshire Air Ambulance — which landed nearby.

Three specialist Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) ambulance crews, trained to deal with dangerous and complex situations, were also in attendance.

Eyewitnesses claim firefighters – wearing breathing apparatus – entered the property and rescued a person, who was then given CPR.

A man, aged 19, was pronounced dead at the scene despite first responders’ best efforts.

Police remain guarding the property and forensic work is expected to take place in due course.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “A man has died following a mental health related incident in Towcester Road, Swindon, today.

“At around 4.30pm, we responded to an incident involving a 19-year-old man.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services he was declared at the scene.

“A scene has been set up to establish the circumstances around the man’s death.

“This remains in place while enquiries into the death continue, but it has been determined to be not suspicious.

“Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this sad time.”
