A teenage boy suffered a cardiac arrest while at football training in Swindon last night.

Paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service were called to Croft Sports Centre, off Marlborough Lane in Old Town, at around 8.30pm on Wednesday.

Eight police officers, five paramedics and three air ambulance critical care medics attended the scene.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance landed on the field just yards away from the incident.

The casualty was flown to Southampton General Hospital at around 9.45pm for further treatment, a South Western Ambulance Service spokesperson told Wiltshire 999s.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called at 8.45pm to a medical incident involving a 16-year-old male at the Croft Sports Centre. He was taken to Southampton hospital by air ambulance.”

His current condition is unknown at this time.
