Police have launched a probe after a teen girl was ‘called pretty’ by a van driver.
The man reportedly pulled over in Windsor Drive, Devizes, to compliment the child at around 3.13pm on Tuesday (29 April).
The incident happened closed to The Patchway shortly after the girl left school.
In a post on social media, the victim’s mother said the man stopped to “ask if she was ok and to tell her she looked pretty”.
Adding: “Obviously this petrified my daughter and she walked as fast as she could to get to the school and told a teacher when she got there.
“There was no need for anyone to pull over to speak to my daughter.
“The main thing is that she is safe and I am so glad that she did not engage with him. She is a sensible girl, but obviously this has scared her.”
The man is described as being aged between 50-60, with glasses and a goatee. The van was described as being small and red.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that an investigation into what happened is underway.
