A woman has appeared in court accused of stabbing a boy in the neck over the weekend.

Drew Stanton-Foreman, 19, appeared in custody at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday) charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.

Prosecutor Tom Power said the defendant attended a house party on Saturday (3 June) and at around midnight, she allegedly started shouting at a fellow partygoer – aged 17 – to leave.

It is claimed that a short time later, she smashed a champagne glass on the side and proceeded to stab the boy in his neck with the remaining sharp stem.

The victim, who told police the attack was completely unprovoked, was taken to hospital for treatment for his puncture wound – which isn’t believed to be life-threatening.

Stanton-Foreman appeared tearful in the dock as magistrates decided whether or not to remand her into prison until the plea and trial preparation hearing at Swindon Crown Court on 7 July.

No plea was indicated by the defendant. GBH with intent is an offence that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and can only be dealt with by a judge.

The young woman, of Redhouse Way, Swindon, was released on bail with conditions not to contact the victim or witnesses and remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily.
