A Swindon roundabout was closed for five hours after a serious crash overnight.
Emergency services were called to Commonhead Roundabout, near Great Western Hospital, at around 11pm last night (Thursday, 16 January).
It’s understood a car collided with part of the roundabout and a tree, with the vehicle suffering significant damage.
The National Police Air Service helicopter appeared to circle above the area following the incident.
The road had reopened by 4am.
In a statement at the time, Wiltshire Police said: “Please be advised that we are currently in attendance of a serious road traffic collision on the A419 at Commonhead Roundabout in Swindon.
“A closure is in place from Marlborough Road onto the roundabout. It is expected to remain closed for several hours.
“Please seek alternative routes.”
