A man who was shot dead by police responding to a disturbance in Swindon in the early hours of this morning has been named locally.
Eyewitnesses said 57-year-old Graham ‘Tommy’ Trinder was fatally wounded by armed police when he failed to put down a gun – now thought to be an air rifle – as instructed.
Police officers were called to a heated argument between neighbours in Summers Street in the moments prior to the shooting at around 2am this morning.
Tommy was a well-known, well-liked local mechanic leaving behind two adult sons.
