A library in Swindon has reopened after a flood caused extensive damage.
West Swindon Library, which is located within the Link Centre, had to close following flash flooding during a storm in September last year.
Swindon Borough Council and GLL have worked to get the premises back open – and today (Tuesday) more than one hundred people visited.
A spokesperson said: “The reopening today saw 114 people visit the library in four hours and we’re thankful to everyone for being patient while we worked to reopen.
“The library also has new opening hours: Tuesday: 10am to 2pm, Wednesday: 1pm to 5pm, Friday: 10am to 2pm, Saturday: 10am to 1pm.
“The library closed last year due to flash flooding after severe storms, which affected the Link Centre.
“The flood caused significant damage to the whole library, destroying books, IT infrastructure, flooring, equipment and the library delivery van.
“The library will need to close again later this year for a short period to enable significant electrical works to take place to replace the flood-damaged systems.
“We will update on this closer to the time.”
