The Cotswold Water Park Trust has issued a warning to people visiting one of their lakes.
The picturesque Neigh Bridge Country Park, located off Spine Road, may look like the perfect place for a swim but the lake is ‘recipe for disaster’, according to a post on Facebook.
It reads: “Neigh Bridge can be a beautiful place, but when the weather is this warm it can easily give you the false impression that a quick dip is a good idea.
“However, Neigh Bridge lake is very deep, with layers of very cold water and thick blankets of weed; all of which are a recipe for disaster for even the strongest swimmers. There are plenty of signs asking to refrain from swimming, so please do not ignore them.
“Similarly, we do also ask that dogs are kept away from the water. Aside from the disturbance to wildlife and anglers, there are blooms of potentially toxic blue-green algae every year. These could make your dog very ill or worse. There is also the chance of dogs getting caught up on fishing line left behind.
“And lastly – please please take your litter home! Not just an eyesore, but a danger to wildlife and very costly for a charity to collect up and dispose of. We thank you for your cooperation.”
