A suspect gunman is in custody after an armed police siege in Swindon.
Officers attended an address in Burns Way, off Meadowcroft, at around 9am this morning (Friday).
Four armed response vehicles were in attendance, with firearms pointed at a house.
Meadowcroft was cordoned off by local officers as highly-trained armed police – supported by a police dog handler – dealt with the incident.
Shortly before 10am, a man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “Officers attended an address in Burns Way, Upper Stratton, Swindon at about 8.40am today (06/10) following a report of a man with a suspected firearm.
“Armed officers were deployed with the police helicopter in support.”
They added: “There were no reported injuries.
“We have arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He is currently in police custody.
“The road is currently closed to allow officers to examine the scene.”
