A suspected drug driver has been arrested following an incident overnight.
Armed police attempted to stop a silver MG HS on the M4 near Junction 16 at 10.30pm on Tuesday (9 April) – but the driver failed to stop and fled towards London.
Roads policing officers joined the pursuit into the Thames Valley Police area.
With assistance from the neighbouring force, officers strung and then boxed in the SUV on M4 at Junction 12 at Theale, near Reading.
The driver made off on foot – but he was arrested swiftly arrested when a police dog Conan was released.
The suspect, aged in his 30s and from Swansea, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
He then failed a drugs wipe and was further arrested for driving under the influence of cocaine. He remains in custody for questioning.
