A suspected air freshener thief has been chased through central Trowbridge.
Police responded to reports of a man stealing items from Savers in Fore Street at around 10am this morning (Tuesday).
On spotting officers, the suspect made a run for it. Following a foot pursuit, the man was detained and arrested on the railway bridge in Stallard Street.
A photograph posted in our Facebook group, Wiltshire 999s: Incidents, Crime & Traffic, showed at least five police officers in attendance at about 10.30am.
27-year-old Evan Jewers has since been charged with theft and remanded in police custody.
The defendant, of Pitman Avenue, Trowbridge, is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 22 January).
