A former Royal Mail executive has pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a child for sex, after being snared by Wiltshire-based paedophile hunter Danny Catcher.
Edmund Phipps, 50, from Gloucester travelled to Bath on 12 July last summer in a bid to meet up with a 14-year-old girl who he’d be having sexual conversations with online.
Instead, when he arrived, he was confronted by the paedophile hunter and detained, while police raced to the scene on New King Street – just outside the city centre.
Earlier in the week, Phipps pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child at Bristol Crown Court. He’s due to be sentenced on 7 March.
A spokesperson for Royal Mail commented: “We can confirm that Mr Phipps is a former employee. He was off duties from the time he was arrested.”
