A 45-year-old man has been arrested in Bath city centre following a successful sting by Wiltshire-based paedophile hunter, Danny Catcher.

The man travelled into the city to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old girl for sexual intercourse. However, on arrival he was confronted by the hunter who detained him at the scene under Section 15 of the Sexual Offences Act.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to the incident, arriving on scene at around 8.45pm. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of the offence and taken to Keynsham custody where he remains.

In a statement released this morning, Danny Catcher said: “At approximately 8.30pm yesterday evening, 12 July, I confronted a 45-year-old man who had travelled into Bath from out of the city. He was in Bath to meet my decoy profile – a 14-year-old girl – for sexual activity.

“On spotting him on New King Street, where the meet had been arranged, I approached the man and preformed a Citizen’s Arrest for the offence of meeting a child following grooming.

“Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after and the man was subsequently arrested.

“Due to the police investigation being in progress, I cannot comment on this case any further at this time.”
