UPDATE: Rigorous search of wood in Oaksey carried out after police dog ‘showed interest’
Police have spent the day searching a copse in the corner of a field in North Wiltshire.
At 3pm today (Sunday 6 November), a specialist search team and a dog unit were combing trees on a rural public footpath in Oaksey, northeast of Malmesbury.
Around a dozen officers could be seen bashing away in the undergrowth with sticks as a springer spaniel search dog sniffed out potential evidence.
Several police cars were parked near the entrance to the field – including two unmarked vehicles.
A police officer could be seen guarding the area, which is understood to be a crime scene, whilst searches were ongoing.
Local residents say the police have been present since early this morning.
At this stage, no details have been released to confirm why a major search is ongoing at this location.
