A Chippenham man has been given a sex risk order after he allegedly stalked a schoolgirl.

Ross Toulson was slapped with a five-year ban on the surveillance of females, among other activities, at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 2 February this year.

The 46-year-old window fitter, who owns Modish Installations Limited, remains under investigation for the alleged stalking matter – and has not been charged or convicted.

However, on application for a civil Sexual Risk Order (SRO) by Wiltshire Police, the court imposed the order. It carries up to a prison sentence if breached.

Court documents reveal that the defendant must comply with the following prohibitions:

1. Engaging in any form of surveillance of a female or inciting another person to do so; to include, but not limited to, following them, recording any images of them, and attending or waiting outside any place of work, education, leisure facility or residence.

2. Remaining in the company of any female in circumstances where it has been indicated to him that the said female does not wish to be in his company. This indication does not have to be direct conversation or speech, where a reasonable person would accept that the said indication has been given.

3. Attending within any education facility usually frequented by females under the age of 18.

4. Entering, or being within [a specific road] in Chippenham.

In a statement on social media, Sgt Jamie Ball, the town’s local neighbourhood police officer, said: “This order has been put in place following reports from members of the public which enabled us to submit the relevant information to the courts.

“I hope news of this Sexual Risk Order and our ongoing investigation provide reassurance to the public that we will always take reports of this nature extremely seriously.”
