A schoolgirl has suffered ‘significant bruising’ after a hit-and-run in Amesbury.

The 14-year-old victim was struck by a black car in Holders Road as she made her way to school at around 8.20am on 20 January.

As a result of the collision, the girl was injured and fell to the ground.

She sustained significant bruising to her hip and rib area which has worsened over the past few days.

The driver of the vehicle involved did not check on the girl’s welfare and did not stop or leave details.

Wiltshire Police is now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We would urgently like to speak to any pedestrians or drivers in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident.

“If you think you can help, or you may have relevant dash cam or CCTV footage, please call us on 101 and quote crime reference number 54220008106.

“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
