A Salisbury woman has unexpectedly given birth to a New Year’s Day baby this morning, despite having no idea she was pregnant.

Grandfather Stuart Dingle, a local private hire driver, posted in multiple Facebook ‘for sale’ groups in the Wiltshire area in a bid to urgently collect baby products.

He posted: “My sons girlfriend gave birth a few hours a go in our bathroom… [she] didn’t even know she was pregnant…. so everyone’s in shock.”

Since posting it on Facebook, Mr Dingle has been inundated with offers to help from kind strangers – and most haven’t asked for money in return.

Amid hundreds of comments of congratulations, he commented: I cant believe the kind hearted people out there…. all we did was ask if anyone was selling baby items.”

Mother and baby understood to be well and healthy.

We have approached the family for comment, and hope to update this story shortly.
