A soldier has died in a suspected suicide at his barracks on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire.
Taylor Raymond Cole, a Lance Corporal with the 3rd Division Signals Regiment, was discovered hanged in his room in Bulford at around midday on 26 January.
His body was found when a fellow solider when looking for him after he failed to turn up for a meeting in Bulford, Wiltshire and Swindon Coroner’s Court was told.
Paramedics were called to the scene, but he was pronounced dead at 12.37pm.
Wiltshire Police attended the incident alongside an ambulance crew and were able to confirm that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Mr Cole’s cause of death was hanging. The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
The Ministry of Defence said that an investigation has been launched and is ongoing.
In a statement, it said: “The circumstance surrounding this death will be investigated, and it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this time.
“Our thoughts are with the soldier’s family at this difficult time, and we ask their privacy is respected.”
