A roaming dog has entered a garden and bitten a toddler in Trowbridge.
The unsupervised pet attacked a four-year-old boy after entering the rear of an address in Summerleaze at around 4pm on Thursday (21 May).
The back garden gate open when the dog entered – biting the child on the face.
Wiltshire Police has launched an investigation into the incident, which left the toddler requiring treatment for his injuries in hospital.
Due to the boy having additional needs and being very distressed following the attack, doctors made the decision to stitch his wounds in theatre.
A spokesperson for the force added: “The dog is described as medium sized and dark coloured.
