Firefighters are currently battling a serious house fire in Devizes.

Four fire engines are in attendance of a two-storey house said to be well alight in the Hambleton Avenue area.

The road is closed in both directions by police whilst emergency services respond.

Talking to Wiltshire 999s, a local resident said firefighters are removing tiles from the roof in order to continue tackling the major blaze.

Another said the house was “well alight” and “almost certainly destroyed”, with smoke billowing from the property.
