A reported kidnap in Trowbridge turned out to be a false alarm, police say.
Officers raced to St Stephen’s Place shortly after 6.30pm on Saturday evening (11 January) following reports of a female being kidnapped.
A large crime scene was put in place – covering the children’s play park, the front of the Trowbridge Town Council Civic Centre and along the path by the river.
However, an investigation revealed that nobody has been harmed. As such, the cordon was removed by around 8.30pm.
Locals reported seeing detectives in attendance alongside many police vehicles.
Wiltshire Police confirmed they “responded to reported concerns for the safety of a female in St Stephen’s Place” at around 6.38pm.
Adding: “Our enquiries established that no one was harmed, and our scene was cleared by 8.30pm.”
