A man charged with a number of offences – including the rape of a child – will face trial in November.

David Alan Watts, 40, of Knowledge Hill, Ramsbury, appeared at Bristol Crown Court yesterday charged with false imprisonment, three counts of rape of a girl under 13, assault by penetration of a girl under 13, making threats to kill, and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

He did not enter a plea at the hearing and the case was adjourned for a trial by jury starting on 16 November. Watts was remanded into custody.

As first reported by Wiltshire 999s, police officers from across the north and east of the county responded to reports of a disturbance at a property in Ramsbury at around 8.30am on Saturday 13 June.

Upon arrival at the scene, an officer was forced to taser a 40-year-old man who was then arrested.
