Railway lines blocked after ‘loss of life incident’ in Hungerford

Railway lines are blocked after a ‘loss of life incident’ in Hungerford.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 10am this morning (Wednesday).

Train services have been cancelled or delayed between Westbury and Reading, with the closure expected to remain in place until around 1pm.

A spokesperson Great Western Railway said: “We’ve received reports of an incident involving a loss of life in the Hungerford area. Subsequently all lines are on stop.”

On social media, the firm wrote: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Reading and Westbury, all lines are blocked.

“Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled, delayed or diverted between Reading and Westbury.”
