A Swindon teenager who carried knives, committed a burglary and assaulted three police officers has been jailed for more than two years.
Joshua Oxford, of Heygate, Tadpole Garden Village, was arrested when police were called to reports of a man inside a property in Ken Savage Close at 1am on 3 June.
The concerned neighbour reported seeing someone wearing black clothing searching for something and when officers arrived, they spotted a person matching the describing cycling away from the scene.
He was detained but resisted officers, spitting at PC Thomas.
In custody, officers were forced to restrain him after headbutting the wall. During this, he kicked backwards and struck PC Baker in her knee. She felt instant pain as a result.
Assisting, PC Lambert had his hand on Oxford’s chin when he attempted to bite down on his hand. The officer suffered no injuries.
In his custody cell, he made his finger bleed before writing 666 on the wall in blood.
During an interview prior to being charged, the teenager told officers he had been in The Messenger pub where he’d snorted cocaine and drank alcohol between 5pm-10pm. He told how cocaine made him paranoid.
The defendant said he did not recall much about the evening, other than that he went to a friend’s house in Park North after the pub trip where he took pregabalin and valium.
Oxford also admitted being in possession of a machete on 13 September.
At Swindon Crown Court on 7 December, he was sentenced to a 25-month prison sentence which he will serve at a young offenders’ institution.
