Possible explosives have been found after a man was arrested in a raid in Trowbridge.

Police attended a property in Hoopers Pool, Southwick, earlier today (Wednesday) to execute a drugs warrant.

Officers arrested a man, aged in his 60s, on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

It’s believed that during searches, a suspected munition was located – and an area cordoned off.

The bomb squad was called in and specially-trained military personally are assessing the find.

Wiltshire Police has asked that members of the public avoid the scene.

In a statement, the force said: “A cordon is in place at a property in Hoopers Pool, Trowbridge following the discovery of a suspected munition.

“Specialists from the MOD are attending as a precaution to ensure public safety.

“The development follows the execution of a warrant at the property earlier today during which a man in his 60s was arrested at the property on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

“Members of the public are asked to avoid the scene while the cordon is in place.”
