A house has been damaged after a driver crashed their car in Swindon town centre.
Emergency services rushed to the incident in Eastcott Hill at around 12.30am this morning (Monday, 7 November).
It’s thought the vehicle was being driven down the hill before crossing Crombey Street and ploughing into the side of the home.
Part of Crombey Street was closed to traffic and pedestrians whilst firefighters – from Swindon and Trowbridge – worked to make the property safe.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said that crews evacuated the occupants safely before shoring up the building to ensure it couldn’t collapse.
It’s not yet clear if the driver was injured or if any arrests were made.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We attended a road traffic collision on Eastcott Street, Swindon around twenty past midnight involving a car that had collided with a building.
“The driver was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries. The road was closed for around five hours.
“No arrests were made.”
