Police flooded a Swindon venue as a huge disorder broke out at the weekend.
Dozens of officers raced to reports of a mass brawl at MECA in Regent Circus at around 11pm on Saturday night (7 December).
The fight started near the end of the SM Fightclub event, a white collar boxing show.
A large number of people were involved in the disorder, which subsequently spewed out onto the streets of Swindon town centre.
Footage seen by Wiltshire 999s showed at least 16 police vehicles on scene – with an estimated 30 officers in attendance, including armed response and a dog unit.
“Hundreds of people started fighting inside”, one witness said.
They added: “Loads of people fighting and police having to use their batons. Police cars everywhere just dumped in the road abandoned.”
The witness suggested there were more than 50 police officers on scene, but the exact number has not been confirmed.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed they responded to a “large-scale disorder”, which “took place within Swindon Meca before spilling out onto the street”.
The force said that nobody is thought to have sustained serious injuries and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
“Anyone with information, or who attended and suffered injuries, is asked to contact us on 101 quoting reference 54240144580.”
