Police have swarmed part of Swindon after the violent robbery of a superbike.
Four suspects riding electric bikes stole a red Ducati V4 from a property in Walcot – assaulting the owner with a weapon in the process.
The incident was called into police at around 12.45pm today (Tuesday), with officers immediately deployed to the scene.
A short time later, the force received a report of the suspects pushing the vehicle in the Eldene Drive area. When officers arrived the suspects fled on electric bikes.
The National Police Air Service helicopter and a dog unit was dispatched in support of the search – with around a dozen police vehicles swarming the estate.
A man riding an electric scooter was stopped in Whitbourne Avenue, at Cavindish Square, over concerns they may be a suspect.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate the individuals involved.
“They are described as wearing all black and in balaclavas.
“Anyone who witnessed the robbery or has any information is asked to contact us on 101 quoting log 131 of today’s date.”
