Police have stopped a farmer who was transporting hay without securing the load.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit pulled the vehicle over on the A350 in Heywood, between Trowbridge and Westbury, earlier today (Sunday).

The driver was moving approximately 18 bales of hay without strapping them to the trailer – presenting a risk to other motorists.

“We appreciate farmers are busy at this time of the year but safety should be paramount when using public roads”, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

The farmer was reported for an offence under the Road Traffic Act.
