Wiltshire Police has released a statement after a man was found dead in a Wiltshire village.

Specially-trained officers and search teams were deployed in Wylye, which is located off the A36 between Warminster and Salisbury, yesterday morning (Sunday 5 February).

They were tasked with finding a man, aged in his 60s, who had been reported missing.

Volunteers from Wiltshire Search and Rescue, Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs, Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue and Severn Area Rescue Association were involved in the operation.

Despite their best efforts, the man was found dead at around 1.30pm in the afternoon, and a fire service officer called in to provide advice on the recovery of the body during dusk.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “We received a report yesterday morning (05/02) that a man in his 60s had gone missing in the Wylye area.

“Searches of the local area were carried out and, sadly, a body of a man was located yesterday afternoon in Wylye.

“His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will now be prepared for HM Coroner.”
