Police are searching for the driver of a car found crashed in Chippenham this morning.
Officers attended the scene in Rowden Hill following a report that the vehicle – a Vauxhall Astra – had left the road and collided with a hedgerow before 6.30am.
But when police arrived, the occupant/s of the vehicle could not be located.
The car is believed to have lost control and hit a lamppost side-on before ending up embedded in a hedge on the boundary of Chippenham Community Hospital.
Wiltshire Police say efforts are ongoing to trace the driver.
“There were no people in the vehicle”, a spokesperson for the force told Wiltshire 999s. Adding: “We are currently making enquiries to trace the owner.”
