Wiltshire Police has revealed why officers smashed their way into a Corsham home.

The force were first called to an address in The Old School Yard over concerns for the welfare of a man shortly before 9am on Tuesday morning (29 July).

Officers left the scene following the initial emergency call, but returned – following another call – in the afternoon.

They forced entry to the property and carried out a search for the male. Nobody was located inside.

At around 5.45pm, the man was found unharmed nearby. He is now “receiving appropriate support”, the force confirmed.

A police presence remained until around 7pm, with the building made secure by a contractor.

An eyewitness claimed there were many vehicles parked behind The Pound Arts Centre, with around least nine officers present at the scene.

They said that police ‘kicked the door in’, after a drone was flown above the building.

Wiltshire Police previously said it couldn’t find any record of the incident, but has since provided a full statement.

It reads: “We were called to a property in Old School Yard, Corsham shortly before 9am in relation to a concern for welfare.

“Following a further call we reattended the address and gained entry to the property.

“A male was located nearby, at 5.45pm, unharmed, and is now receiving appropriate support.”
