A police officer has been assaulted at a medical incident in Chippenham.
Emergency services were dealing with a casualty after responding to reports of a disorder in the Goldney Avenue area at around 3am today (Sunday).
A local resident claims police closed the nearby Ivy Lane railway bridge footpath, with numerous police vehicles and an ambulance in attendance.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police confirmed that an officer was assaulted by another person while dealing with the medical incident.
The suspect, a man aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
He is currently being held at Gablecross custody in Swindon for questioning.
