Police have announced that there is ‘no evidence dead cats were deliberately poisoned’.
On Tuesday (15 August), the force confirmed it had launched an investigation into the deaths of four cats in the Emerald Crescent area of Swindon.
In a new statement, it said there is no evidence that the cats who passed away were deliberately poisoned – but said a probe with the RSPCA is ongoing.
A spokesperson wrote: “Following our previous message regarding the sad deaths of a number of cats in the North Swindon area over last weekend, we would like to advise residents that thankfully there have been no further incidents reported since and we are working very closely with the RSPCA to determine what has actually occurred.
“We take the reports seriously, but it’s important to be clear that at this time we have no firm evidence to suggest the cats were deliberately poisoned, and we are keeping an open mind as to the cause.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
