Police have closed a major route after a fire broke out at a pub near Devizes.
Emergency services were called to The George & Dragon Inn on High Street, Potterne, at approximately 5pm this afternoon (Wednesday).
The roof of the building – which is thatched – is on fire and firefighters are currently working to prevent the spread.
The A360 High Street is closed in both directions, as is Court Hill.
Thatch fires usually require significant firefighting efforts, including the use of aerial appliances. The area is likely to remain closed to traffic for some hours.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The A360 at High Street, Potterne is closed due to a roof fire.
“Court Hill from Worton into the village is also closed. This is likely to be for some time so please avoid the area.”
