A police inspector has criticised the actions of two individuals filmed performing doughnuts in a shopping centre car park in the snow.

A silver Nissan 4×4 and a black Audi were involved in the incident at the Orbital Shopping Park in North Swindon yesterday following heavy snowfall overnight.

Footage (which can be viewed on Facebook here) of the drivers’ escapade was recorded by a concerned Swindon resident and shared with Wiltshire 999s and other media outlets.

“While this sort of driving might appear to be harmless fun, it could lead to tragic consequences, especially as this appears to be taking place in a public area with complete disregard to the safety of others”, Inspector Mark Freeman of Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit (RPU) said.

Adding that: “We take this sort of behaviour extremely seriously. If anyone knows who these individuals are, please call us on 101.”
