Police officers have been involved in a pursuit this morning, after two vehicles were seen driving erratically in the Pinehurst area of Swindon.
This morning, 22nd July, at approximately 1.40am, police were made aware of an orange VW Golf and a silver Ford Mondeo driving dangerously.
A short time later, both vehicles were sighted by a Tri-Force Roads Policing unit and Armed Response Unit. Both the VW Golf and Ford Mondeo have then failed to stop for the police, leading them on a five-minute pursuit through Swindon.
The Ford Mondeo crashed through concrete barriers at the end of Liden Avenue, were the male driver decamped from the vehicle and made off.
Despite an extensive search by the helicopter from the National Police Air Service and Tri-Force dog unit, the male was not located.
The VW Golf was later found abandoned off of Liddington Street.
PC Ben Agate, from the Tri-force Armed Response unit would like to hear from anyone who has information relating to persons who may have been using the vehicles at the time.
He says: “These vehicles were driven dangerously, exceeding the speed limits and contravening red traffic lights. Both these vehicles were not insured and I strongly suspected that they were driven by teenagers who do not hold a driving licence.
“Luckily no one was hurt during the pursuit. I believe that someone in the local community knows who were driving these vehicles at the time they failed to stop for police.”
